Restricted Licence

GETTING YOUR RESTRICTED LICENCE (6R)
Your restricted motorcycle licence is the next milestone on your riding pathway. After gaining your learner licence and feeling prepared, you can book your CBTA 6R assessment ride — there is no requirement to wait six months.
During the CBTA 6R assessment, you will show that you have the practical skills to ride with greater independence and confidence in real-world traffic.
You will need to be at least 16½ years old to complete your 6R assessment. If using your own bike - the test must be taken on a LAMS approved bike.

ABOUT THE ASSESSMENT

Maintain safe speeds and smooth control
-
Use correct lane positioning and road placement
-
Navigate intersections, roundabouts, and turns
-
Choose safe gaps and make good decisions
-
Keep proper following distances
-
Use mirrors, head checks, and observations effectively
-
Indicate and signal correctly
You will complete the route on real roads, with instructions given through a Bluetooth headset. The goal is to show that you have the skills to handle common traffic situations and ride responsibly.
